WHY LASER?
The LASER ACTING METHOD was developed in response to a market flooded with so-called acting teachers and courses, most looking to take advantage of performers, and a world of misinformation (and, quite frankly, lies) about what is actually required to deliver honest, authentic, and BOOKABLE work. Created by a 30+ year veteran of stage, screen and voice-over, LASER is designed to be straight forward and incredibly effective; a SINGLE technique that you can use in ANY medium, whether it's on stage, on camera or behind the mic. WHO IS LASER FOR?
LASER is for any actor looking for truth in performance. And a way to deliver their authentic self without second guessing themselves. It works whether you're a seasoned professional, just beginning your acting journey, or anywhere in between.
For the experienced actor, LASER will be a relief; a salve to the frustration of various techniques that only work for one medium, or in a single situation. Freeing you up to do your best no matter where the script finds you, or your role you're playing. No more wondering, no more doubts, no more second guessing yourself.
For the newcomer, LASER is a solid, no BS technique that will set the foundation for your acting journey - and one that will put you light years ahead of your peers, as they try on method after method, and go from teacher to class to play to film without any consistent technique to fall back on. WHAT LASER IS NOT
LASER is not scene study. It is not a way to break down a script. Rather it is a cutting edge way to access the meat of the role and bring your unique self to that role, so that when you approach the scene, you are already IN the scene, and your choices become those of the role; organic and intuitive. With LASER, you move out of your intellectual head and into your instinctive body, the place from which you can deliver the most powerful and engaging performance.
Also, LASER is not for the actor looking to get famous, or trying to win awards. Sure, you might get there and, indeed, its creator has won numerous awards in his 3 decades as a working professional in everything from theatre to on-camera, voice-over and motion capture.
But the goal of LASER is for you to deliver incredible work. That's it. It just so happens that the byproduct of great work is getting hired and, in time, I truly hope that you gain attention, heaps of praise and bigger and better roles.
And if you become famous, great! You'll have more freedom in the kinds of roles and projects you get to explore. But if your aim is simply to be famous, I'm afraid to say you are in this for the wrong reasons.
Why? Because wanting to be famous is not sustainable. Unless you experience a miracle and get discovered in a bank, or playing guitar in the street (it's happened, but it's exceptionally rare), you have to be prepared for a long journey with pitfalls and challenges along the way.
Also, if your singular goal is to be famous, I have to admit that, in my experience, you are probably overestimating your own ability. The best performers and the ones with longevity in this business are the ones who remain humble and come from a place of curiosity and gratitude.
