The LASER ACTING METHOD was developed in response to a market flooded with so-called acting teachers and courses, most looking to take advantage of performers. There's a world of misinformation (and, quite frankly, lies) about what is actually required to deliver honest, authentic, and BOOKABLE work. And a bunch of people who've never (barely ever) done it professionally.
I mean, if you want to learn tennis, why go to an umpire? Sure, they can recognise a good player from a bad one. But do they know how to serve an ace, or scramble to a volley, or recover from being down 2 sets to love? Wouldn't you rather learn from a professional tennis player? Someone who's actually competed at that level? Or is it better to learn from someone who played tennis at high school and occasionally on weekends?
SPOILER: I think we both know the answer.
Hi there. I'm Gideon Emery, a working actor with over 30 years of professional experience on stage, in film, TV, voice-over and motion capture. I've trained a lot. I've done a lot. I've seen a lot. I hold an honors degree in Dramatic Art and also hold the memories of countless auditions, jobs won and jobs lost. With hundreds of credits on IMDb, odds are that you've seen, heard or played me in something. I'm not commenting from the sidelines. I'm in the trenches every day. Just like you. And, after 3 decades working and supporting myself exclusively as an actor, I'd say I know a thing or two about what it takes. Both to deliver on cue AND to survive in this business.
The answer to both of these challenges is the same: authenticity.
When you are authentically YOU, you become undeniable.
But how do you deliver that authenticity when you're on set with a bunch of crew members buzzing around you? Or you're standing alone in a recording booth talking into a mic? Or doing choreography in a tight and itchy motion capture suit with a helmet screwed onto your skull and a camera permanently 6 inches from your face?!
Well, you need a method. Not a bunch of different techniques that you throw at the wall, desperately hoping that something will stick. No. I'm talking about a single method, one method to rule them all, if you will. (Or, at the very least, one that you can depend on to deliver in ANY medium, whether it's on stage, on camera or behind the mic.) Something that, once learned, you won't have to stress over, or substitute, or question. Something dependable.
So, I took what has worked for me, and I broke it down into a system.
A system that I call the LASER acting method.
A method that anyone can learn.

LASER is not scene study. It is not a way to break down a script. Or about building character biographies. Rather it is a cutting edge way to access the meat of the role and bring your unique self to that role, so that when you approach the scene, you are already IN the scene, and your choices become those of the role; organic and intuitive. With LASER, you move out of your intellectual head and into your instinctive body, the place from which you can deliver the most powerful and engaging performance.
LASER is not expensive. It's a mere fraction of the thousands it would cost to attend a drama school and study with acting coaches. In fact, it can pay for itself with your very first gig! Not to mention saving you (and your reputation) years in real world experience figuring out the hard way what works and (painfully) what doesn't.
Also, sorry, but LASER is not for the actor looking to get famous or win awards. Sure, you might get there and, indeed, its creator has won numerous awards in his 3 decades as a working professional in everything from stage to screen, VO and motion capture.
But the goal of LASER is for you to deliver incredible work. That's it. It just so happens that the byproduct of great work is getting hired. And, in time, I truly hope that you gain attention, heaps of praise and bigger and better roles.
If you do become famous, great! You'll have more freedom in the kinds of roles and projects you get to explore. (Also, please spread the word!) But if your aim is simply to be famous, I'm afraid to say you are in this for the wrong reasons.
Why? Because wanting to be famous is not sustainable. Unless you experience a miracle and get discovered yelling in a bank, or going viral on TikTok (shoutout to Charlize and Khaby), you have to be prepared for a long journey with pitfalls and challenges along the way.
Also, if your singular goal is to be famous, in my experience, you are probably overestimating your ability. The best performers and the ones with longevity in this business are the ones who remain humble and come from a place of curiosity and gratitude.
